ICT-AI, Robotics Support and Content Development Project - ICT-AI, Robotics Project

Sept. 15, 2026 - Sept. 14, 2027

Status: Ongoing

A collaboration between OLE Nepal and the KDDI Foundation aimed at strengthening ICT-AI, Robotics and Content update for one new and twelve previously existing schools in Lalitpur Metropolitan City (LMC).

Title ICT-AI, Robotics Support and Content Development Project
Abbreviation ICT-AI, Robotics Project
Start date Sept. 15, 2026
End date Sept. 14, 2027
Status Ongoing
Beneficiaries
  • Schools: 13 schools in Lalitpur Metropolitan City
  • Students: Primary focus on grades 1-8 for ICT and 6-8 for robotics
  • Teachers: Educators from participating schools
  • Focus Group: Students in AI leadership roles
Funding Amount $99,100/-
Background

The project builds upon previous initiatives that provided robotics kits to thirteen LMC schools. It addresses the need for enhanced STEM and digital literacy education by integrating modern technologies, including AI tools, robotics education, and updated digital content, into the educational framework.

Activities and Timeline

1.Common Works (Throughout Project Duration)

-Coordination, survey, and information sharing with the schools and the LMC

-Procurement of the equipment

-Test, load, and prepare equipment for the school

2. ICT and AI Tools in Basic Education

-Deploy 20 computers/ equipment to set up a computer lab, set a digital library server. Provide 2 laptops to the teachers to learn the Al tools in a new school.

-ICTI Technology in education and Al tools usage training of 5 days, support training of 2 days and refresher training/ support of 2 days at a new school.

-Conduct student workshops and orientation on the use of ICT/ technology and AI in education

-Introduce teachers and Students to Artificial Intelligence (Al) tools, Robotics Education, E-waste Management, DEAI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusiveness and Accessibility) matters.

3. Digital Content Updates and Training

-A student focus group is to be created to bring them into Al leadership role

-Conducts students monitoring the use of technology and Al in education.

-Digital content development/ update up to 55 contents of grade 1 to 5 and three coding courses for each 4 and 5 grades.

-Existing LMC schools are to be installed with the updated contents.

-One day of training will be provided to the existing LMC schools to use the updated content.

Conduct student monitoring of the use of technology in education.

4. Robotics Support

-Technical and preparation support for twelve LMC schools that got robotic kits through previous projects, for eight to nine months

-Two robotic refresher training sessions of one day each at each of the twelve LMC schools

-Organize a Robotics Challenge event among the schools regarding robotic programming.

-Documentation and reporting of the project activities on a quarterly basis.

Outcomes
  • Enhanced ICT-AI and digital literacy among students
  • Equip teachers with AI tools and modern pedagogical approaches
  • Upgraded digital learning resources (55 contents of grades 1 to 5 and three coding courses for each 4 and 5 grades.)
  • Established functional digital labs with modern ICT infrastructure
  • Improved robotics programming skills across participating schools
  • Strengthened technical capacity in thirteen LMC schools through continued robotics support
Accessibility and Inclusivity

Student Focus: Primary emphasis on empowering students with dedicated activities

Universal Access: Digital content updates benefit Grades 1-5 across all participating schools

Teacher Empowerment: Training ensures teachers can facilitate inclusive learning

Equal Opportunity: Robotics programs and ICT lab made available across all 13 schools

Sustainability
  • To ensure that the results of the project are sustained beyond the project's lifespan, the project aims to leverage partnerships with local governments, schools, and communities.
  • To provide training to teachers to effectively use the learning contents, ensuring appropriate utilization and maximizing benefits which will foster a sense of ownership crucial for sustaining app usage beyond the project's duration.
