The consortium implementing this activity consists of Plan International as the prime, with local partners Karnali Integrated Rural Development and Research Centre (KIRDARC) and Aasaman leading implementation in the focus provinces of Karnali and Madhesh, respectively. Open Learning Exchange (OLE) Nepal and Inclusive Development Partners (IDP) will serve as technical resource partners to develop innovative approaches related to technology and training delivery focused on Universal Design for Learning and Assessment (UDLA).

Background

O.L.E. Nepal is serving as the technical partner in the implementation of the USAID Equity and Inclusion in Education project. O.L.E. Nepal is collaborating to execute a digital literacy program aimed at out-of-school children and Youths (OOSCY). This will contribute in SESP objective on ensure equitable access to, and participation of, all children, especially those who are socially and economically disadvantaged, children from marginalized groups and children with disabilities.

Outcomes
  • Enhanced Access to Resources: Students and teachers including community members can access a wide variety of books, interactive leaning materials including audio and videos. It will also enhance accessiblity and inclusivity
  • Improved Learning Outcomes: Availability of diverse content supports personalized and interactive learning experiences. Students and teachers can explore topics at their own pace, using multimedia content that caters to different learning styles (visual, auditory, or kinesthetic). Such resources support deeper understanding and retention of concepts.
  • Cost-Effective: Reduces the need for physical books and infrastructure, saving costs over time.
  • Environmental Benefits: Minimizes paper usage, contributing to sustainability efforts.
  • Promotes Digital Literacy: Students develop skills in navigating and utilizing digital platforms, which are essential in the modern world.
  • Encourages Independent Learning: Students can explore topics of interest beyond their curriculum, fostering self-directed learning.
  • Inclusivity: Provides resources for students with diverse needs, including accessibility features like Epub books, content with Sign Language.
  • Collaboration Opportunities: Students and teachers can share and discuss resources, enhancing collaborative learning.

Implementing the DEIA and GESI pathways, we address barriers to participation for vulnerable and marginalized populations, actively promoting inclusion in all program activities.
