About the position
The Digital Learning Content Designer will be responsible for creating and enhancing interactive, culturally relevant educational content for OLE Nepal's learning platforms, especially HRK, Seepalaya, and E-Paath. This role requires an innovative thinker who can blend pedagogical insights with multimedia design, UI/UX principles, and localization for diverse linguistic and cultural groups.
Specific Responsibilities
- Content Design and Development
- Design, storyboard, and create engaging and pedagogically sound digital learning content, including interactive storytelling and gamified educational activities, for HRK, Seepalaya, and E-Paath.
- Collaborate with curriculum experts and language specialists to localize content effectively, focusing on cultural and language adaptation for multilingual audiences.
- Design user-centered learning interfaces.
- Integrate best practices in accessibility and learning/instructional design to ensure inclusivity for diverse learners, including multilingual and remote users.
- Prototype and User Testing
- Build prototypes and interactive mockups to test new content ideas, gathering feedback from educators, students, and community members.
- Refine designs based on user testing and feedback, ensuring content is intuitive, culturally relevant, and educationally effective.
- Training and Capacity Building
- Support in the implementation of workshops for educators and community leaders to promote the effective use of HRK, Seepalaya, and E-Paath.
- Support in the training of educators on integrating digital content into classroom practices, enhancing engagement through interactive methods.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Document design processes and strategies, maintaining alignment with project goals and organizational guidelines.
- Report on the effectiveness of new designs through periodic progress updates and impact assessments.
General Responsibilities
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, curriculum experts, and community leaders, ensuring a cohesive design approach.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Support stakeholder outreach to collect user insights, guiding iterative design improvements.
- Learning and Adaptation: Stay updated on current design and educational technology trends, applying insights to elevate the quality of content and user experience.
- Field Support: Travel to project locations to conduct studies, participate in user testing, and facilitate content roll-out in rural schools.
Eligibility and Personal Traits
- Relevant Experience: Proven experience in digital content creation, interactive multimedia design, and localization for educational purposes. Experience with culturally diverse content development is an asset.
- Educational Background: Degree in Education, Design, Multimedia Production, or a related field is beneficial. Relevant work experience in digital learning design may substitute for formal education.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in various digital design tools including Figma, Canva, and apps from the Adobe Suite, Google Workspace and Microsoft 365. Familiarity with HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript, and with Python and coding based animation tools is a plus.
- Educational Design Skills: Ability to work with subject matter experts to ensure content aligns with pedagogical standards and curriculum goals.
- Communication Skills: Strong ability to collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams and communicate ideas effectively.
- Adaptability and Learning: Willingness to explore and integrate new technologies and methodologies to meet the evolving needs of the project.
What We Offer
- Work Schedule: 5-day work week (Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM), with Saturday and Sunday as holidays.
