The Expanding Educational Access and Skills through Technology (EAST) Project is making strides in bringing digital learning to underserved schools in Nepal. Over the past 3 months, we’ve secured key approvals, completed school surveys in Karnali, and initiated the upgrade of our flagship E-Paath platform. With eight schools selected in Karnali and partnerships established for infrastructure support, we are now gearing up for the Madhesh province survey in February 2025. Exciting updates ahead include the launch of new interactive learning modules, procurement of digital learning equipment, and teacher training programs. Stay tuned as we continue transforming classrooms and empowering students!

As 2024 comes to a close, we reflect on a year of progress, learning, and engagement through the LLEST (Empowering Local Communities through Local Language Education and Skill-Based Training) Project. Coming to the year end, our commitment remains the same, as we address Nepal's educational challenges focusing on the need for learning materials in local dialects for early childhood development and the issue related with the lack of free, quality resources for skill-based training. Here’s a look back at some of the key developments from October to December 2024.

Robotics Training of Teachers (TOT) , organized by Open Learning Exchange Nepal in collaboration with Lalitpur Metropolitan City and KDDI Foundation, was conducted on 11th and 12th November at Prabhat School and Hindu Vidyapeeth School, respectively.

After eight days of travel, our team finally reached Siddhartha Kula school at Tinje, Dolpo. It wasn’t an easy journey—two days of flights, four days of trekking through breathtaking landscapes, and a rest day to recover before we arrived at the school. The school is set between large stone hills and rivers, creating a calm and beautiful scene that amazed us all.

In our efforts to expand access to educational content to more learners, we have launched a pilot program for the deployment of E-Paath on android mobile. This initiative involved adapting the E-Paath activities to be responsive on smaller mobile devices, building of android apk, and aims to utilize mobile devices– which many families have access to unlike other computing devices like laptops or tablets– to deliver learning resources.
