Expanding Educational Access and Skills through Technology - EAST

Duration: 2024-2026

Start Date: August 1, 2024

Partner: Phoenix Foundation

In March 2024, we signed a funding agreement with the Phoenix Foundation, a Swiss charitable organization committed to fostering positive, sustainable change in impoverished and marginalized communities. This collaboration marked the inception of our latest initiative, the “Expanding Education Access and Skills through Technology” (EAST) project.

The project primarily focuses on expanding our ICT in Education program to 12 schools in Madhesh and Karnali Provinces. This entails establishing tech-enabled classrooms and digital learning labs, complemented by comprehensive training and ongoing support provided by our dedicated "Teaching with Technology Fellows".

Additionally, the project will enable a significant upgrade of our E-Paath platform, along with the development of 100+ new interactive activities tailored for Grades 6-8 in English, Math, and Science subjects, aligning meticulously with the latest curriculum guidelines. This endeavor aims to enrich the platform's offerings, benefiting both online and offline users and ensuring comprehensive coverage of the curriculum.

Since March, our team has been reviewing project requirements, planning implementation schedules, and coordinating with various local governments in Madhesh and Karnali provinces to identify schools and communities for the project implementation. Work is also underway for submission of the project proposal to the SWC. The official start date of the project is August 1.
