This blog is a reflection from a three-day story-building workshop held in Snow Leopard |Residence with 17 students from Dolpo currently living at the Snow Leopard Residence in Kathmandu, as part of the ONGD-LLEST project to create early childhood learning materials in local languages. Over three days, students explored the purpose of stories, learned storytelling techniques, and collaboratively created original stories rooted in their lived experiences and cultural surroundings, later presenting them to the group. These stories will be part of the building the Hamro Ramailo Kathaharu collection, preserving the local stories while also building cultural connection, values, and early literacy.

Here’s a look back at some of the key developments from October to December 2024.

The LLEST project tackles two major educational challenges in Nepal: the lack of local language materials for early childhood education and insufficient quality resources for skill-based training in rural areas. In 2024, our primary focus is on researching, designing, and planning 10 skills-based courses and developing a personalized learning platform, with significant progress made in laying the groundwork and establishing key partnerships in the first half of the year.
