O.L.E. Nepal is launching the Expanding Educational Access and Skills through Technology (EAST) project from August 2024 - August 2028. This project will expand our ICT in Education programs in twelve schools across the Karnali and Madhesh provinces, providing essential computing infrastructure including our offline servers, as well as comprehensive teacher training and support. The project also entails the enhancement of our E-Paath platform and the development of new E-Paath activities in English, Science and Math subjects for Grades 6-8.

Continuing work from the previous quarter, our robotics and programming team focused on expanding teacher training and student engagement in robotics. From July through September, the team successfully completed a robotics training program for the second phase of teachers (7 teachers) from our partner schools in Lalitpur. Additionally, they launched a dedicated robotics program at Adarsha Kanya Secondary School, an all-girls school in Lalitpur, with support from the KDDI Foundation, Japan. As part of this initiative, the team introduced ICT in Basic Education by setting up a computer lab, installing our E-Pustakalaya digital library, and training three new teachers with robotics kits and Raspberry Pi computers to integrate digital resources effectively into classroom learning.

The project focuses on improving teaching and learning methods, developing IT skills, managing e-waste, and utilizing digital content in classrooms in the selected schools in Bagmati Province. Tablets have been introduced in these schools to help students and teachers navigate and benefit from digital learning activities efficiently.

Open Learning Exchange Nepal has recently updated the OLEN-iOCR platform based on feedback from users, and this has led to a significant boost in our community. Currently, around 500 active users use our platform on a regular basis, including users use our platform on a regular basis, including users from outside Nepal, including the USA, China, India and Brazil. The platform converts documents in English, Nepali or mixed languages to accessible formats, allowing vision impaired users to read scanned documents that are hard to make accessible using existing online free tools.
